Conference Venue
Jeju Island is the central city of Jeju Free International City, which boasts one of the world's 7 natural wonders, and is a city of traditional culture with a thousand-year history and unique culture. On December 16, 2002, UNESCO recognized the ecological value of climate and biodiversity and designated Jeju Island as a Biosphere Reserve. In addition to Gapado, Hallasan, Seongsan Ilchulbong, and Geomunoreum lava tube systems were recognized for their academic, cultural, tourism, and ecological value and importance, and in June 2007, Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes were registered as World Natural Heritage. On October 3, 2010, the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network (GGN) certified Jeju Island as a Global Geopark.
